Tension rises for our first ever Cheltenham runner
Third Intention (left) wins his maiden hurdle easily on his first start at Newbury.

UPDATE: Third Intention has been backed from 25:1 to 12:1. The favourite is Zarkandar, an Azamour half brother to Zarkava. The Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle takes place on Friday, 18.03., Gold Cup Day.
Third Intention (by Azamour ex Third Dimension), who gave my dad his first winner in Ireland last year, has gone on to develop into one of the smartest juvenile hurdlers in England. He was sold to trainer Colin Tizzard after only 4 runs on the flat and has rewarded his new owners by winning his first hurdle start and progressing to be second in the Gr 2. Triumph Hurdle trial at Cheltenham. He improved again to be second to an experienced and very highly rated French hurdler last time out in Haydock. This should bring his rating up into the 140is, which will make him one of the favourites for the famous Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Looks like a visit to Cheltenham in now a MUST!

With no visitors this foaling season and first mare only due in March, it has been a quiet start to the year at Swordestown Little. This has allowed us to to some refurbishments in the barn and fix all the damage that the snow brought with it, namely replace all the gutters on the barn.
Signs of spring we hope!

This year\'s matings are as follows: Sogno Verde will visit Darley\'s exciting young sire and Breeders Cup winner Raven\'s Pass (by Elusive Quality). She is currently in the foaling box and should deliver her Mastercraftsman foal shortly. Khatela will visit a new recruit to the stallion ranks, French Derby and Poule d\'Essai des Poulains winner Lope de Vega (by Shamardal). Third Dimension has been booked to proven sprint sire Acclamation (by Loud Applause), whereas Nisryina, a new young mare, has been covered by first season sire Zebedee (by Invincible Spirit). Theola, Third Intention\'s half sister, has been leased for two seasons to Doelf Renk and has been covered by Azamour. Last but not least, Romandie is booked to the very popular and good-looking Lawman (by Invincible Spirit) whose first crop are 2yo\'s of 2011.
New rubber floors have been installed in all the boxes in the barn. This is quite a labour-intensive process: undermats are being fitted (left), then one single mat is put on top, folded up and sealed along the walls. This is what the finished product looks like (right).

This is Yves St Laurent, handsome son of Miss Coco Channel. He can now not travel to the US and is looking for a good home. Please contact Mariann on 087 230 86 85
