A week of travel before the start of the 2009 Foaling Season
My dad Richard in splendid form

From Newmarket to the Curragh - visiting our homebred horses!
The week started with a brunch invitation when we welcomed about 30 friends and supporters to Swordlestown Little. Des\'s culinary delights found great approval and so did Margret Durkan\'s delicious dessert selection and\' of course, the self-imported Australian Champagne! Thanks to everyone who came, we promise to make this a tradition for the future! Sadly I totally forgot to take pictures (too busy talking, eating and mainly drinking!). The day had a very happy ending for Des and Henry shouting for their beloved green rugby boys to beat les bleus (and they truly obliged this time!)
Impressions from our visit at Flint Cottage. Theola left and Khayar right (both 3yo).

After a bad start to our trip to Newmarket (the pre-booked rental car did not turn up for two hours-shame on Hertz!) we had a great day visiting Khayar and Theola. We were, as ever, so well looked after by Angie, Mark\'s lovely wife and Claire, her daughter who took all the nice pictures. Theola and Khayar both look very well, Mark is full of enthusiasm for both, and it is truly a very exciting year ahead of us. Come on the flat season! My dad showed good judgement when he selected Pivotal as his favourite stallion at Chevely Park Stud where we were very well looked after by the manager, Chris Richardson. Thanks to everyone for making it a great day out! Next on the list was our visit to the Curragh (where horses must be rain- and sheep-proof!)
Alhaarth ex Sogno Verde colt (2yo)

Ken Condon is clearly very pleased with the Azamour colt who is doing steady build-up work (top left and middle). Paul Deegan has a more precocious type in the Alhaarth colt who is already doing very pleasing faster work (top right). Of course, we have great hopes for both of them. We concluded our week with visits to Derrinstown Stud and the beautiful Ballylinch Stud in County Kilkenny. All that remains is to visit Damien in Lambourn (Barry Hills) and the Marju filly ex Stariya in Northern Ireland (Andy Oliver).
