UPDATE: Third Dimension is overdue but her two offspring Orgilgo Bay and Third Intention ran fantastic races at Cheltenham!
Third Intention in the green and yellow colours

The breeding season is progressing and we have had four dry days in a row!

Only very few horses make Cheltenham four years in a row but Third Intention (by Azamour) did just that. He put on a faultless round of jumping and finished a gallant fifth in the Grade 3 Handicap Chase on Thursday. What amount of pleasure he has given to his owners, Robert and Sarah Tizzard.  One day earlier, Orgilgo Bay (by Lawman) jumped the last hurdle in front and just got found out on the gruelling Cheltenham Hill to finish a brave third in the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle. What durable, tough and honest  horses.  We were hugely proud of them and it would have been lovely to be there.   We are now looking forward very much to Third Dimension's foal by Lope de Vega, which was due last week. As every year, she is taking her time and probably will go three weeks over which seems the correct time for her.

A new addition to our broodmare band is Bluebell who is delighted to be home!

On the breeding front we are happy to report four pregnancies so far.  Of our own it is Khatela to Lilbourne Lad and our new mare Bluebell was scanned in foal to Dark Angel last week. We are hugely excited to have Bluebell (Mastercraftsman ex Sogno Verde) back on the farm. She is a lovely, big, rangy  filly and will grow into a beautiful broodmare in time. We think that Dark Angel will suit her well physically and he is himself by Acclamation which makes the progeny quite closely related to Lilbourne Lad. Of course it would have been interesting to see her race at three, given that she should have had a lot of potential to improve, both on pedigree and on physique. She has the most lovely temperament and is a pleasure to have around

A hint of Spring!

This season we have three visitors from Mark and Angie Tompkins' Dullingham Park Stud in Newmarket.  They are the black-type Topatoo and Brushing and the very sweet  maiden mare Astromagick. Brushing and Astromagick are scanned in foal and Topatoo, unfortunately has to make the trip to Coolmore Stud and Pour Moi one more time!

We welcome a new permanent boarding mare at Swordlestown Little and this is Pasalsa who is owned by our friends Toni and Vreni Kraeuliger. Pasalsa is a winning and Listed-placed maiden mare and has been covered by Azamour. We are delighted to have her at Swordlestown Little and wish Toni and Vreni the very best of luck in her new Irish life!

Astromagick covered by Lawman and Topatoo will visit Pour Moi.
