Further sucess for Swordlestown Little representatives!

Yesterday saw the first ever Grey-only race being held at the Curragh and it was wonderful to see Paul Newmans filly Susiescot (Verglas - Princess Susie) win the inaugural Irish edition. It was a most well deserved win for the connections as the little filly had been placed on no less than eight previous occasions!. She put in very determined effort to see off her much larger rivals and this time she was not going to be denied!

Susiescot was bred and raised at Swordlestown Little as her mother Princess Susie was a long-term previous border with us. Mr Newman loves grey horses so Verglas who predominantely breeds precocious greys, was selected as her first mate. Susiescot  was broken at Swordlestown Little. She joined Willie Mc Creery, a successful young trainer on the Curragh in March as a two year old. She ran three times later on in the year and finished second and third but also ran very well in a Listed race at the Curragh.  This season Susiescot continued to be a model of consistency, only being out of the frame once when she hated the firm ground. Nobody deserved this win more than her and it was very special for everyone involved. Congratulations to owner Paul Newman, trainer Willie Mc Creery and of course to her apprentice jockey, Leigh Roche.
