It was a wonderful privilege to be guests of the Hong Kong Jockey Club for their 2016 International Racing Festival and associated activities. Their hospitality is incredibly generous and organised to perfection.
However, the highlight for us was to visit our two homebred horses at the Sha Tin racetrack. Dinozzo (Lilbourne Lad - Nisriyna) is trained by the wonderful Australian John Size who has been based in Hong Kong for 16 years and is highly successful. Dinozzo in addition to his debut win in Ireland, has run three times in Hong Kong so far and has never been out of the first three, winning his last start. The plan is to qualify for a place in the Hong Kong Derby which will take place in March. Fingers crossed!
El Sherif (ex Christchurch, by Henrythenavigator ex Saintlike) has had one introductory run and, according to his trainer David Hall, also an native Australian, has had the shock of his life, when confronted with night racing at Happy Valley! It has to be said, this must have been somewhat of a rude awakening after having previously been trained at Manton! However, he is getting acclimatised to the new way of life and should soon be able to show his best.
